On Monday, 21 September, staff at Dundee University began their 5- week strike against compulsory redundancies.
The University management approached Dundee University and College Union (DUCU) soon after to have a dispute resolution meeting on Thursday, 24 September.
The meeting was held in the executive suite of Abertay University and failed to prevent a second consecutive week of staff strikes.
DUCU met with the University’s Executive Group (UEG) to ask for compulsory redundancies to be taken off the table for staff and in turn end strike action which is expected to last 5 weeks.
In compulsory redundancies, staff do not have an option as to whether they want to leave or not, and the university can end their employment because of business needs.
After the UEG did not change its position on complusory redundancies, DUCU have voted to continue strike action, which could continue to affect hundreds of students across campus.
