• The University reworked its proposals following the end of the consultation period. The proposals envisaged reducing staffing by around 190 posts, that has been reduced to 154. • Central to students and the wider community, the Botanic Gardens will continue to be funded until July 2027 to allow alternative proposals for its future to be developed. Furthermore, a new Student and Education Support Hub has been established in the university, which will be one of the key contact points for students on city campus.

• Proposed cuts at UoD are justified by further investment abroad, potentially including a university engaged in pro-China propaganda. Law and Business courses, which face staff cuts at Dundee, could partner with a Chinese university whose partnership with a Dutch university was cut short over genocide denial. • The Dundee Rep Theatre has been awarded more than £24,000 for work to protect and strengthen its historic Tay Square home. The funding will be used to carry out protection works and safeguard original elements of the building for the future.

• For the sports enthusiasts, a new summer sports festival is coming to Dundee today from 3.30pm until 8pm at Lochee Park. Visitors will be able to have a go at cycling, Gaelic football, wheelchair sport, rugby, hockey, cricket, football, and tennis, alongside other activities. The event is free, with no advance booking required.

• A new Nanny McPhee musical which began life in Dundee is officially heading to London’s West End, with its world premiere confirmed for summer 2027. The project has been in development for more than a decade by Oscar-winning actress and screenwriter Emma Thompson alongside Dundee singer-songwriter Gary Clark.

• Scotland’s information watchdog is to take the Scottish Government to the Supreme Court for the first time ever. This is in a bid to overturn a freedom of information (FOI) ruling which allowed the Scottish Government to redact documents. The documents are linked to an investigation into whether Nicola Sturgeon breached the ministerial code.

• Princes Street in Edinburgh is set to fully reopen tomorrow, seven weeks after a major fire at a Debenhams. Bus routes were diverted and tram services were only operating in the west end of the city, while “several tonnes” of debris were removed from the site, according to Edinburgh City Council.
