Today, Dr Veena O’Halloran was appointed by Court as Interim University Secretary.

After a series of recent UEG resignations, one has been filled on an interim basis.

A University secretary is responsible for ensuring that the University’s governance processes are robust, efficient and fit for practice. An essential part of the senior management team.

Previously, O’Halloran was the Secretary and Compliance Officer at the University of Strathclyde before retiring from full-time employment in 2022.

During her time at Strathclyde, she advocated for preventing all forms of gender based violence within Universities and supported the Pilot Project in 2018.

Since 2022 she served as a Special Advisor to the Principle at Strathclyde.

She was also was a non-Executive member of the Board of the Scottish Funding Council for eight years.
